How to Enrol

Sooner is always better than later at Gumnut.  On contacting the school and obtaining an enrolment form, this should be completed and returned with the non-refundable enrolment fee.  Completing this step is not a guarantee that your child has a place at Gumnut.  Gumnut prides itself on providing the optimum learning environment for a child so places are extremely limited and several requirements are looked at as each child starts; namely, maintaining  an equal gender number, and the number of siblings of previous students enrolling.  Siblings do take priority at Gumnut.

Parents are welcome to visit the school during school hours and have an Observation of the school and students.  No children are allowed at this time as it will be distracting to the other children.  The teachers will tell you what to do when you visit.

When the time  comes to enrol, you will be invited to an interview with the teachers, enrolment officer and Board member at Gumnut.  Both your child and yourself are invited to attend (please do not bring other children to the interview as it can be distracting for all).  If your enrolment is then accepted, you will be invited to have a visit of the school highlighting what your child may do when they first start.  Also at the time of an accepted enrolment you will be expected to pay a bond.  This will be one and a half terms' school fees and covers the school in the case that you do not remain at Gumnut until your child turns 6 years old.  This bond will be returned to you should you stay the whole 3 years.

Prior to the term beginning, you will be sent an invoice for the coming terms fees.  All fees for morning and extended day children are the same.   It is expected that all fees will be paid prior to each new term beginning.  Occasionally there will be differences in the term fees due to one off payments for grounds and maintenance and fund raising.   Fees are also set to rise with CPI to cover teachers wages and insurance.  As Gumnut Montessori is an independent school, government funding is limited and does not cover 3 year olds.
