About Gumnut

Gumnut is a small pre-school with a maximum of 25 students.  It employs 2 full time Montessori Teachers.  It is based on a 3 year programme with the students beginning as close to their third birthday as possible.    The children begin as morning children, coming to school at 9am and finishing at 12 mid day.  When the teachers feel that the time is right, the children will be invited to become extended day children.  This usually takes a year and depends on the child's individual needs and requirements.  Children remain extended day children until they reach the age of 6, when they leave Gumnut.

Children beginning their education at Gumnut will develop a love of learning, develop respect for self, others and their environment, establish and maintain independent work habits, self-motivation and concentration, and learn sociability and their own unique and individual interests.

No matter where your child goes after Gumnut Montessori School, whether it is onto further Montessori education, or mainstream education, your child will benefit and remember their wonderful years at Gumnut.

Gumnut is an independent, parent run school. Together with the school's small size, this mode of operation fosters a wonderful sense of community for the children and their families.

If you would like more information about Gumnut Montessori, please feel free to contact our enrolments officer.
